IEC GUIDE 123:2025 defines provisions for the implementation of IEC Guide 108 by ACEA and IEC committees within the area of environment. It defines procedures for IEC committees to request the assignment of horizontal functions within the area of environment, giving the committee authority to develop one or more environment horizontal publications within the assigned horizontal function, as well as to manage the environment horizontal publications developed under the assigned horizontal function, and ACEA on how to assess and recommend (to the SMB) the assignment of horizontal functions within the area of environment to a committee, and to manage and supervise assigned environment horizontal functions and the respective environment horizontal publications and their correct application by product committees. This Guide also describes the respective responsibilities of the developers and users of environment horizontal publications in order to ensure that the area of environment is dealt with in a comprehensive and coherent manner by the IEC technical community. This Guide does not cover horizontal functions within the areas of energy efficiency and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), which are covered by IEC Guide 118 and IEC Guide 107, respectively. Il definit des procedures qui permettent aux comites de l’IEC de demander l’attribution de fonctions horizontales dans le domaine de l’environnement, ce qui habilite le comite a elaborer une ou plusieurs publications horizontales sur l’environnement, en respectant la fonction horizontale qui lui a ete attribuee, mais aussi a gerer les publications horizontales sur l’environnement qui ont ete elaborees dans le contexte de la fonction horizontale qui lui a ete attribuee et qui regissent la facon dont l’ACEA va evaluer et recommander (aupres du SMB) l’attribution a un comite de fonctions horizontales dans le domaine de l’environnement, et de gerer et de superviser les fonctions horizontales liees a l’environnement attribuees, et les publications horizontales respectives sur l’environnement, ainsi que leur bonne application par les comites de produits. Le present Guide decrit egalement les responsabilites respectives des redacteurs et des utilisateurs de publications horizontales sur l’environnement, afin d’assurer que le domaine de l’environnement est traite de maniere complete et coherente par la communaute technique de l’IEC. Le present Guide ne couvre pas les fonctions horizontales dans les domaines de l’efficacite energetique et de la compatibilite electromagnetique (CEM), qui sont respectivement couverts par le Guide 118 de l’IEC et le Guide 107 de l’IEC.
