The International Union of Railways (UIC) develops and distributes International Railway Solutions (IRS) in order to help railway stakeholders, achieve further harmonisation and collaboration.
This IRS sets out guidelines so that information may be given over the public-address system on passenger trains in a standard and user-friendly way and defines the characteristics of public-address equipment to facilitate its use on international services.
