Dieser Teil von ISO 9360 basiert auf ISO 9360-1:2000 und legt bestimmte Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren an Wärme- und Feuchtigkeitsaustauscher (HME, en: Heat and Moisture Exchanger) ohne Maschinenöffnungen fest. Er umfasst auch HMEs mit eingebauten Atemsystemfiltern. Diese Geräte sind für die Anfeuchtung der Atemgase bei tracheostomierten Patienten mit einem Mindesthubvolumen von 250 ml vorgesehen.
