The International Union of Railways (UIC) develops and distributes International Railway Solutions (IRS) in order to help railway stakeholders, achieve further harmonisation and collaboration.
This IRS deals with requirements on fittings provided in coaches and multiple units in the interest of hygiene and cleanliness.
It is addressed to railway undertakings, manufacturers and entities in charge of the maintenance of railway vehicles.
